During the period of 1960 to 1970, the majority of the Sikh population in Northern Alberta consisted of University of Alberta students and teachers in rural areas.

Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh Ji Janam Utsav and Vaisakhi were celebrated among the tight knit devotees at a small hall in the basement of Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton.

Gurudwara Services


  • Punjabi Classes Punjabi classes are held in the Gurdwara Sahib for children on every Sunday from 10:30AM to 12:00PM. The curriculum is design in way that enables them to read, write and speak Punjabi language.
  • SUMMER CAMP It is conducted in the first week of July every year for children. This 6 week long program will teach them Punjabi language, Sikh religion & history and seva in langar.
  • EDMONTON KHALSA SCHOOL Gurdwara runs an accredited, nonprofit private school named Edmonton Khalsa School .This school was started in September 2001 with 13 students. Currently, there are over 260 students and over 20 staff members.
  • PUNJABI LANGUAGE AT UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA As a collective effort from Punjabi community we were able to start Punjabi classes at University of Alberta. Students who take Punjabi class get credit from UoA.
  • Library Gurdwara has a well stocked library that contains Sikh religion & history books in Punjabi and English languages.
